Healthy Halloween Snacks

The end of October marks the beginning of what seems to be one celebration after another in our house until the new year. From October 26th until December 12th, we celebrate 9 birthdays in our IMMEDIATE family. Throw in Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years and we are completely partied out by the first of the year. While I believe in allowing my children to enjoy special treats on special occasions, I also work really hard at not making sugar the center of all of our celebrations. There are so many healthy, creative, and fun alternatives to candy and sweets out there. Sometimes you just have to put a little extra effort and planning into creating a healthier version of the holiday season for your family. To get things started off right, I thought that I would share some Healthy Halloween Snack Ideas that I found around the web. Maybe they will inspire you to make a few changes in your home this holiday season.
I love this snack combination idea from Natural Noshing: Apricot Fruit Bugs, Apple Bites, and Ghost Cheese. These healthy snacks are easy to put together, require no baking, and are fun, don’t you think? Stop by Natural Noshing, here, for recipe directions.
These Spooky Banana-Berry Smoothies from Better Homes and Gardens are healthy and cute. Who could resist one of these?
You will be the coolest Mummy on the block if you serve these on Halloween night. To make, bake whole wheat english muffins topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese strips, and olives (for the eyes) in your oven until lightly toasted and the cheese is slightly melted.
Vegetables don’t have to be boring. Just ask this guy!
